The Legacy of Achievement Foundation
A Nonprofit Organization Dedicated to the Creation of A Living Library of the Lives & Lessons of Great Achievers

Joan Holman, President of Joan Holman Productions and creator and producer of the award-winning public television program The Legacy of Achievement, has established a nonprofit organization for the purpose of using the media to create and disseminate an educational library documenting the lives and lessons of outstanding individuals of all races who exemplify positive characteristics and accomplishments.

Seeking "Jewels" -- Ms. Holman says: "We will seek out the "jewels', those great achievers who exemplify such qualities as faith; determination; perserverance; compassion; service; integrity; inspiration; and moral character. Individuals, especially young people, need to see positive role models who embody these characteristics, not just the usual celebrities, sports heroes, movie stars and rock stars who always get the limelight."

Original Program -- Ms. Holman's original Legacy of Achievement television program featured Dr. Dennis Kimbro as the host. Dr.Kimbro, with Napoleon Hill, is author of the book Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice.

Broadcast on PBS Stations -- Best-selling author, columnist and speaker Harvey Mackay was a sponsor of the first program. Broadcast on PBS stations nationally, the original program features a number of diverse achievers. extensive location shooting, biographical backgrounds, personal interviews and a summary of the common characteristics of high achievers.

Wide Educational Distribution -- Corporate training and educational versions have been purchased by Disney, IBM, Dupont, the University of Colorado, the University of South Carolina, Northwest Airlines, high schools, colleges and libraries. The National Association of the Deaf selected The Legacy of Achievement for captioning and distribution to the deaf community.

Educational Nonprofit -- A video archive of some of the most inspiring and accomplished people of our times will serve as a living legacy for future generations. A nonprofit organization was determined to be the best vehicle to fund this educational and humanitarian venture and support the efforts of Ms. Holman to document a diverse group of individuals and reach a large viewing audience on a global level. The Legacy of Achievement Foundation serves under the umbrella of the National Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. which has been helping individuals, corporations and communities express themselves in the charitable, educational, scientific and religious sector since 1968.

Video Interview Completed with Massage Pioneer Sister Rosalind Gefre -- Masssage pioneer and founder of the Sister Rosalind Schools and Clinics of Massage

Not too long ago, massage was associated with seedy massage parlors. Today, massage is exploding with the number of American adults getting massage doubling from 1997-2002. In 2003, this number grew to over 40 million, along with 260,000+ massage therapists and massage students. Sister Rosalind Gefre has been widely recognized for her work in making massage an accepted healthcare practice. Her first massage center, opened in 1983, was shut down by the Vice Squad. A St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper story "Nun's Massage Parlor Closed" was picked up by the media around the world. Continued publicity has brought celebrity status to Sister Rosalind. In 2002, she was featured in the Time Magazine story "Massage Goes Mainstream." Her growing "Massage Ministry" includes five massage school and seven massage clinics in two states. Over 10,000 people have attended her schools and hundreds of thousands have received massages because of her pioneering work.

Please help us preserve the legacy of great people! We are seeking financial contributions, pro bono contributions for video/film production, stories and ideas about people you feel are leaving a great legacy!
